Locust Bench
A long slab of natural-edged locust rests atop two salvaged gear stands from Western Machine Tool Works formerly of Holland, Michigan. This wide and sturdy bench resides in the garden behind the Old Schoolhouse in Douglas, Michigan,
a project of the Saugatuck-Douglas History Center.

When a century-old red oak tree was struck by lightning, its caretakers wanted to preserve it in some way. Aurura emerged to provide a protected cubby-hole seat ideal for meditation or star-gazing through the new gap in the leaf canopy. A wondrous garden embraced her new incarnation.
